South Korea-based W-Scope breaks ground for new plant in Nyíregyháza. The facility, built with the year’s third largest investment in Hungary, will manufacture separator foil for EV batteries.

Toyo Ink officially opens new cathode plant in Pest County. The new plant will manufacture and distribute carbon nanotube (CNT) dispersions, which have been developed specifically for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.

Due to increased household costs, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. is aiding its employees with a one-time supplementary benefit amounting to 60 percent of their regular monthly salaries.

Tests at Audi Hungaria have proven the ability of 5G technology to meet the strict protocol requirements of the automotive industry. A pilot project by Széchenyi István University, Magyar Telekom and other partners used a 5G network for inspecting cars rolling off the production line, which allowed for rapid data transfer.

Porsche Hungaria opens innovation and training centre in Budaörs. Built with a HUF 2 billion investment, the facility will specialize in the training of sales and technical personnel for the distributor’s trade and servicing network.

In the first nine months of the year, AutoWallis Group registered double-digit growth in all departments. The car rental division saw remarkable performance with a 64 percent increase in rental volume.

Budapest transport company BKV has decided to park its CNG-powered buses due to the surging gas prices. These buses will be temporarily replaced by diesel vehicles.

In September, the Hungarian used car market declined compared to the same period last year. While the market is still showing growth when looking at the whole of the year, worsening economic prospects are projecting a decrease in demand.

The European Parliament has accepted a proposal prescribing the density of electric and hydrogen charging stations along main roads. The decision is aimed to facilitate the spread of electric vehicles.

Student competition Techtogether 2022 was held last week, on October 18-19th. The competition was held alongside HUMDA Day and an automotive conference held together by autopro.hu and AHAI. Team StudentTechLab from ELTE went home with the highest honours.
