Hydro Extrusion builds new plant in Székesfehérvár, metalworkers announce expansion projects in Baranya, Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét forced to extend winter shutdown. Let’s recap what last week brought in Hungary’s automotive sector. Clicking on the highlighted items will open the full stories.

Hydro Extrusion Hungary Kft. will build a new aluminium casting plant in Székesfehérvár with a HUF 32 billion investment, to be supported with a HUF 2.6 billion non-refundable government subsidy.

In Baranya County, Titán Ipari, Javító, Karbantartó és Szolgáltató Kft. has announced to build a new production hall, while Puskás Fémipari Kft. will expand its existing production unit in Harkány.

A new industrial park has been announced to be built in Medgyesháza, Békés County.

Last week, Ganzair Kompresszortechnika Kft. inaugurated a new production hall equipped with modern manufacturing equipment, built in Kiskunhalas with a HUF 530 million investment.

Continental, the largest employer in Veszprém County, received the Responsible Employer and Family Friendly Workplace award in 2021.

Hajdu Autotechnika Zrt. registered a significant increase in its revenues in 2021, the company’s CEO, Anna Dedé Novotni, told our site last week.

Out of all OEMs with Hungarian presence, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét is hit by the current microchip shortage the most, and is forced to extend its scheduled winter shutdown and as a result the workers’ Christmas holiday by almost a week.

Škoda is also forced to extend its winter shutdown by one week due to disruptions in its parts supply.

Profession.hu’s database lists skilled jobs with the highest number of openings in Budapest, accounting for 15 percent of all online job postings this year. According to the online jobs site’s database, they are followed by the fields of finance and IT programming at 10 percent.

The Ikarus 260 and 280 bus models are celebrating their 50th anniversary in Budapest. The most successful models of the Ikarus brand have been transporting passengers for five decades in the iconic blue colour scheme of BKV. Their replacement is long overdue, as most of them have run for over 30 years and 2.5 million kilometres – approximately four times over their intended life span.
