Global technology developer Bosch Group has reported on significant investment volumes and positive results at its Hungarian subsidiaries in 2019, and is expecting difficulties in the year 2020 as a result of the pandemic. The company believes that automotive sales and production volumes will not make a full recovery in 2020.

Rába has also announced their plans for 2020, targeting to scale down Covid-induced revenue losses through flexible production and exploiting potentials in the global market. Rába president and CEO István Pintér said securing the jobs of their employees is of primary importance for Rába.

Audi announced last Friday to support six hospitals and healthcare institutions in Győr and the surrounding area with a HUF 100 million donation.

Suzuki reported last week that they had donated a brand-new hybrid Suzuki Vitara to the Komárom-Esztergom organization of the Hungarian Red Cross.

The employees of Continental are joining forces worldwide to battle the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences through various initiatives, including the production of safety equipment.

With a HUF 565 million investment, supported with a HUF 282 million government subsidy, thyssenkrupp Components Technology Hungary Kft. is expanding their highly modern, Budapest-based development centre.

Modine Hungária Kft. reported on the completion of their brand new CAB (Controlled Atmosphere Brazing) furnace at their Mezőkövesd production site. The furnace, built with a €1.7 million investment from the company’s own resources, will be utilized in mass production following a series of testing procedures.

Registrations for the Hungarian government’s business protection programme are open until August 31st, with subsidies to be distributed through the end of November, and the programme to be concluded by the end of the year.

Fiat Chrysler, General Motors and Ford restarted manufacturing activities in the USA two weeks ago, on May 18th. Since then, each OEM has reported on coronavirus cases among their employees.

As a result of the pandemic, for the first time in history, pickup sales have exceeded passenger car sales in the USA.

Serial production of the first fully electric Mazda, the MX-30, began last week in Japan. The first deliveries are expected within the end of the year. Kia is planning on the introduction of a small city car, but no further details have been disclosed by the manufacturer yet.

Daimler has announced plans on a fully carbon-neutral portfolio by 2039. According to the car maker’s current plans, this means a fully electric product range for Mercedes.

Although the market share of electric vehicles has declined in the recovering Chinese market, there is still a strong improvement compared to the same period in the previous year.
