Spanish automotive companies announce investment projects in Hungary, workers at Nemak Győr form strike committee, Hungarian Bosch companies report on successful 2020 despite challenges due to the pandemic. Let’s recap what last week brought in Hungary’s automotive sector.

Two Spanish companies are set to expand their Hungary-based production capacities with a combined investment of HUF 5 billion. Gestamp will expand their Mór-based battery plant, while Ames are investing in their Szentgotthárd location.

Bosch have disclosed their Hungarian group’s 2020 financial results. The Hungarian Bosch Group’s annual revenues increased by 2 percent in 2020, posting a stable financial result despite all the challenges.

A strike committee was formed last week at Győr-based cylinder head producer Nemak Győr Alumíniumöntöde Kft. after the trade union had been unable to come to an agreement with management about certain new changes affecting plant employees. Shortly after, Nemak management issued a statement saying the company is striving for cooperation, and denied claims that negotiations had been unsuccessful about the workers’ demands.

The renewed Jászapáti Industrial and Logistics Park has been finally inaugurated. The HUF 700 million investment brought key infrastructural developments.

Daimler have pledged to use carbon-neutral steel for their cars from 2025. The company has invested in a Swedish-based steel producer that uses carbon-neutral production methods.

Hungexpo are ready for reopening and await visitors and exhibitors from September. The company has introduced new covid measures and is committed to find replacement for staffers lost during the pandemic.

The new MAN articulated buses delivered recently to fleet operator Volánbusz have entered operation in Veszprém County. When the project concludes, a total of 204 units of the vehicle will be delivered.
