Last week, the 250,000th Audi Q3 rolled off the production line at the car maker’s Győr-based plant. The car, a member of the Q3 model family in production at the Győr plant since 2018, will be delivered to a customer in Germany.

Continental have laid out a new strategy for their hose and tubes division with the focus on electromobility and emission reduction. The company’s Vác plant will have an important role in this new direction.

Hajdu reported on mixed results in 2020. Hajdu Group member Hajdu Autotechnika Zrt. managed to mitigate revenue losses despite expectations owing the the underperforming automotive industry.

Under a strategic partnership programme and with government support, Gamax Informatikai és Munkaerő-kölcsönző Kft., the BME Department of Networked Systems and Services and Racionet Zrt. will work together to develop an intelligent traffic management system.

According to the ruling of the German federal court, Audi cannot automatically be held responsible for diesel-gate. The plaintiffs will have to provide evidence themselves about Audi having knowledge of the existence of the cheat software.

A statement by the COO of Daimler suggests that the German manufacturer is planning to stop the manufacturing of internal combustion engines before 2039.

In the second half of 2020, the BMW Group reported on a 10 percent year-on-year increase in their pre-tax profits, while considering the whole of the year, the company’s pre-tax profits decreased by 25 percent.

Steel manufacturing giant thyssenkrupp has plans to organize its steel division into a whole new company, where further layoffs are expected beyond what has already been announced.

Automotive suppliers submitted a joint motion to the European Union on the proposed ban of internal combustion engines in the EU, and sent their reform proposals on the regulation of CO2 emissions.

According to a report by used-car site Kocsi.hu, the number of used passenger cars sold on the site continued to increase in February, while small commercial vehicles saw stagnating interest.

In 2020, German producers spent a smaller percentage of their revenues on R&D activities, and automotive businesses were no exception to that tendency.
