Construction of a new Hungarian aircraft factory has begun

On the fifth of April, the foundation stone of the new production hall of the composite aircraft manufacturer Magnus Aircraft Zrt. was laid in Pogány. The facility is being built as part of the company's HUF six billion development project.

At the groundbreaking, Finance Minister Mihály Varga said that the hall where self-developed four-seater aircraft will be produced could be „one of the jewels of the Hungarian economy". He added: the company's two-seater aircraft are in demand worldwide, they are used in many industries, from forestry to border protection. The product range is supplemented by a four-seater small plane, of which an electric version is also being prepared.

According to the minister, the Hungarian economy was mainly on an extensive growth path in the last ten years. „In order to increase incomes and added value, it is necessary to enter an intensive period. The Hungarian labor market is getting tighter, and more and more value-added investments need to be implemented," he said.

According to Mihály Varga, the development also contributes to the strengthening of the defense industry, and Magnus can count on an expanding international market with the new aircraft.

The Magnus machine fits the market well

CEO László Boros announced that as part of the development, in addition to the 1500 square-meter production hall, a 500 kilowatt solar park will also be built.

According to its description, Fusion II. two-seater machine has entered the market, it is also used for education, observation, and individual purposes. To manufacture the four-seater aircraft, they purchased the license for the IL-103 aircraft, created a 3D model from the original plans, redesigned it to a fully composite structure, and developed the manufacturing technology process.

The company, founded in 2014, employed eighty people last year; In 2022, it achieved net sales of 538 million forints. According to the company's announcement in the last half of last year, it expects a positive zero result by 2023, while this year and the following years it expects a positive result with exponentially increasing sales.
