Audi Hungaria to launch serial production of Q3 SUV in early-June
Peter Kössler, chairman of the Audi Hungaria board of management, announced today that the production of electric motors and certain elements of the new compact Q3 SUV model will begin within two weeks.
Serial production is expected to launch next year, while the Győr plant will start manufacturing the Q4 model in 2019.
Kössler said the entire driveline of Audi’s first battery-driven cars will be manufactured in Hungary.
The new models’ body panels will be manufactured in a new, 80,000sqm production hall, where the production process will be assisted by 700 robots.
Audi have carried out a HUF 10bln (€9.7m) investment to train 1,000 workers to ensure the smooth production of electric motors. The company is also building a new body shop with a total investment of HUF 100bln (€320m).
