The Kecskemét-based Mercedes-Benz plant management has reportedly reached an agreement with the workers’ union on a 24 percent wage increase plus profit share payout. As a result, certain employees can expect a more than 30 percent salary hike.

Stadler has signed an agreement with Finland-based VR Group on the delivery of 20 Flirt motor trains. The railcar structures will be manufactured at the company’s Szolnok-based workshop.

Volkswagen has postponed the announcement of the location of its new CEE battery plant to next year, a bid Hungary is also in contention for.

German-owned Hechinger Kft. inaugurated a new workshop in Tiszakécske last week. The manufacturer of electronics components for the vehicle, machine, construction and medical industries has created 70 jobs with the project.

Szeged-based Multigrade Kft. is building a rubber-waste processing plant with a HUF 449 million investment. The facility will have capacity to process over 5,000 tons of rubber waste annually.

Last week, five brand new trolleybuses entered service in Budapest. The Solaris–Škoda Trollino 18 trolleys will operate as part of a fleet comprising 48 vehicles.

According to a report released by Porsche Hungaria, Hungary’s new car market is not likely to rebound until 2024. By then, however, the current retailer unpredictability and delays are expected to be a thing of the past.

Unfavourable economic prospects had a marked effect on Hungary’s used car import volumes in November. Imports fell by nearly 20 percent compared to the same month last year.
