Hungarian automotive industry: week 41 2017 edition

BPW-Hungária Kft. is preparing for Agritechnika trade show in Hanover with a world premiere, including a number of new developments. At the same time, LuK Savaria, another Szombathely-based company, is preparing to build yet another production hall to expand its activities. Let´s recap what the 41th week this year brought in Hungary´s automotive industry.

Szombathely-based LuK Savaria Kuplunggyártó Kft. will build a new, 3,500sqm production hall in the near future.

The new facility will house the manufacture of purpose-built machinery, the tool shop and the production of arc springs, Tibor Szigeti, CEO of LuK Savaria, announced last Monday.

BPW-Hungária Kft. will unveil a number of new developments and solutions in connection with suspension systems for agricultural vehicles and machinery at Agritechnika, an agricultural technology trade show to be held in Hanover, Germany, in mid-November.

The company’s latest innovations include the AGRO Drive system, a hydraulic-driven axle for agricultural applications.

Siemens will join the Hungarian government’s supplier development programme. A letter of intent on the decision was signed last Monday by Minister of National Economy Mihály Varga and Dale A. Martin, president and CEO of Siemens Zrt.

Győr-based aluminium foundry Nemak is a leading company in assessing the possible solutions for the challenges of workforce shortages.

The company believes there is no other way other than investing in workforce development.

Ford began the serial production of the EcoSport compact SUV in Romania. Up until now, the European market was supplied with the EcoSport model by the car maker’s Chennai plant in India.

Service providers

After a successful test run, the first facility at Páty Industrial Park has been inaugurated, a logistics hall rented by Swiss-owned Kühne + Nagel Kft. as a regional parts distribution centre for automotive parts supplier Federal Mogul.

The automotive sector is the most successful branch inside the Hungarian processing industry, having doubled its production volume since 2010.

The continued expansion is indicated by the fact that in the first half this year, investments increased by 17 percent in the automotive, pharmaceutical and electronics industries, István Lepsényi, state secretary of the Ministry for National Economy responsible for economic development and management, said last week, commenting on the latest data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Hödlmayr Hungária Logistics Kft. will expand its storage area by 30,000 square metres, corresponding to nearly 10 percent of its existing capacity in Győr.

HUF 9 billion logistics base opened in Nyíregyháza. The investment of Révész-Nyírlog Logisztikai, Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft., owned by Révész Logisztikai Holding Zrt., has resulted in a more than 52,000sqm logistics centre, housing warehouses, an office building and service facilities.

Education

Knorr-Bremse has launched two dual master’s courses in the 2017/2018 academic year. Practical training will be conducted at the company’s Research and Development Centre.

TechTogether

SZEnergy Team members receive acknowledgements: Mechanical engineering student Zoltán Pusztai and business management undergraduate Krisztián Ézsöl have been acknowledged with the student excellence in Kapuvár award for their exceptional academic achievements and professional activities.

The team BME Solar Boat is working on a solar-powered one-man cruiser. The team will participate at the 4th Techtogether event, to be held at Automotive Hungary later this autumn.
