China-based battery manufacturer CATL has announced the largest investment ever to be carried out in Hungary’s history. The company will build its second European battery plant in Debrecen with a HUF 3,000 billion investment.

Another battery giant, South Korea-based SK On, has secured new resources for its latest investment. The company will channel the new funds into its third European battery cell plant to be built in Iváncsa.

Operating at nearly maximum capacity, Hungary’s largest iron foundry, operated by Győr-based Busch-Hungária, produced 5,037 tons of cast iron in June this year.

The Hungarian government’s recent decision to exempt company cars from the fuel price cap has prompted increased demand on electric vehicles. According to several accounts it is not uncommon to see buyers bidding for EVs.

The Hungarian Public Road Management company will carry out roadworks on a hundred kilometres of public roads this year. Currently there are 493 kilometres of public roads in Hungary scheduled for comprehensive maintenance.
