Hungary’s first hydrogen refuelling station has been inaugurated at Linde’s Budapest site. Although the station is not yet open for the public, further work is currently under way to make it available for public use.

It is planned that the first station is to be followed by two dozens of hydrogen stations in the years to come, bringing hydrogen models along to the Hungarian market – the first one, a Toyota Mirai, has already made its appearance.

Last year, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. achieved an annual revenue of €3.4 billion, down from €3.6 billion recorded in the year before, and the Kecskemét-based plant kept its position on the market. So far, the plant has manufactured more than 160,000 passenger cars.

In May, Suzuki was the manufacturer with the highest number of new car registrations in Hungary: 1,564 units were sold, 13 more than in April. As a result, it secured 14.62 percent of the Hungarian market.

Nemak Győr Alumíniumöntöde Kft. has made “mutual compromises” with the strike committee of Vasas Metalworkers’ Federation, preventing a strike at the manufacturer of aluminium cylinder heads, a statement published early last week announced.

Earlier on, a Vasas-led strike committee was formed at Nemak after the trade union had been unable to come to an agreement with management.

European plastics manufacturers have pledged to invest €7.2 billion in chemical recycling by 2030, Plastics Europe, the association of plastics manufacturers in Europe, announced last week.

Hungarian researchers at Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Kft. have developed a processing method to extract cobalt and copper, important and valuable metals, from wastes produced during aluminium coating.
