Dunaferr disclose mystery investor, Pannon Tools invest in automation, chip shortage continues to affect manufacturing. Let’s recap what shaped the region’s automotive industry last week.

Bosch’s 2020 financial report exceeded expectations, and the company also has positive prospects for fiscal 2021, although the effects of the current chip shortage are impossible to predict.

Schaeffler also reported on a successful start to 2021, with Chinese sales contributing to a much better year-on-year performance when compared to last year.

The chip shortage is still causing disruptions at several manufacturers. Daimler have been forced to temporarily shut down two manufacturing units as a result.

Continental’s reorganization scheme, necessitated by the ongoing transformation of the auto industry, has affected 6,000 jobs so far at the company. 1,500 employees have found new employment at different Continental divisions, while the employment of 4,500 people have been terminated at the company. These have only affected German jobs, while so far no employees have been affected in Hungary.

A pre-contractual agreement has been signed by ISD Dunaferr Zrt. and Safin Gmbh, well-funded company engaged in the heavy industry, registered in Vienna with a Kazakh background, while a new venture under the name Safin Donau Acélipari Zrt. is currently pending registration with a company seat in Dunaújváros.

Győr-based Pannon Tools are looking to expand their automation efforts to address the latest challenges in the auto industry.
