Audi's Győr plant to add new Cupra SUV model to production portfolio, towbar manufacturer ACPS Automotive expands supply network, new industrial park to be built in Nagykanizsa. In two years, a new car will enter Audi Hungaria’s vehicle production portfolio. The series production of a new Cupra SUV will be launched in 2024 at the Győr-based plant.

Towbar manufacturer ACPS Automotive Kft. is expanding its supplier network with a HUF 3.8 billion investment. In the last decade, the company’s production capacity has increased from a few hundreds of thousand to 1.3 million units.

Effective from April, thyssenkrupp’s Germany-based units will operate with reduced capacity due to the effects of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The changes are so far not affecting the company’s five Hungarian manufacturing units.

On March 21st, Volkswagen halted production at its Bratislava plant, partly because of the war and partly because of the global microchip shortage. However, the stoppage did not last for long, on March 23rd the plant’s production lines resumed operation.

The war in Ukraine is taking its toll on Czech brand Škoda, whose second largest market is Russia. It was good news for the company, however, that its Ukraine-based wire harness supplier has managed to resume production.

Volkswagen has signed new agreements on establishing joint ventures for the mining and processing of metals necessary for battery production. One of the companies will operate in China, while another will open in Indonesia.

The foundation stone of a new industrial park has been laid in Nagykanizsa. The development project will establish a new industrial zone on a 73-hectare area, featuring a 11,000-square-metre production hall in the initial phase of the project.

The main structure of the office facility at ZalaZone proving grounds has reached completion. The nearly 700-square-metre building is being built with a HUF 749 million investment.

In the last month, the average price of used cars increased by 9 percent in Hungary. One of the main reasons for the price hike is the unfavourable change in exchange rates against the forint.

According to a new statistics published by the Hungarian Energy Office, the amount of energy drawn from public charging stations increased by 57 percent in 2021, and the number of individual charges also set a new record in the country.
