Vredestein opens flagship operation in Budapest

Tyre manufacturer and distributor Apollo Vredestein has opened its first flagship workshop in Budapest, Hungary.

Mathias Heiman, regional president of Apollo Tyres Europea and North America and CEO of Apollo Vredestein B.V., said at the inauguration ceremony that in the next few days, following the inauguration of the Hungarian unit, the company will open six similar flagship operations in six different European countries.

Bakonyi Tamás, CEO of the company's Hungarian operation said currently there is tough competition in tyre manufacturing and sales, the number of brands are ever growing, while the number of tyres sold has not increased in recent years.

The company is set to become a market-leading manufacturer and distributor with a marketing strategy that builds on innovation.

Bakonyi reminded that Apollo Tyres' new greenfield plant in Gyöngyöshalász will create 975 new jobs in the region. With a plan to manufacture 5.5 million tyres for passenger cars and 675,000 tyres for buses and HGVs annually, the tyre plant is set to begin production in the first half of 2017.

Vredestein is a Dutch brand that operated independently from its establishment in 1908 until 2009, when it was bought by India-based Apollo Tyres, thus creating Apollo Vredestein B.V. Apollo Vredestein Kft. has 11 employees and over 80 partners.
