Sopronkövesd-based Autoliv honoured with GM´s Supplier Quality Excellence Award
Sopronkövesd-based Autoliv has received General Motors´ Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the second consecutive year.
General Motors' Supplier Quality Excellence Award is one of the most prestigious awards handed by a car manufacturer to a supplier. The award is given to specific manufacturing sites, and according to the car maker, only those plants may earn it who supply at the best quality products.
These companies include those who have been able to meet and exceed the car maker's strict quality requirements. Furthermore, their nomination is a token of GM's full support. This is the third year when GM's Supplier Quality Excellence Programme has been held.

Autoliv, the Sopronkövesd-based manufacturer of safety belts, received the award in 2013 and 2014, confirming the excellent quality of the company's products.
"Autoliv has been elevated to the level of excellent suppliers at GM. The company maintains its core target to save lives, and values its employees all over the world, especially those who have been working hard to earn this award.
"Only 8 per cent of GM's international suppliers are able to meet this standard in quality, and even those can only do so in the case of one or two production sites. Last year, the award was given to seven Autoliv sites, while the company was able to maintain and even exceed this level by having ten winning sites this year," said Walter Guertler, vice-president of Autoliv International.
Besides the Hungarian plant, GM's award was also given to the company's Spanish, Swedish, Mexican, Romanian, American (Utah) and Canadian production sites.
It's not the first time the Sopronkövesd-based plant, employer of 1,600, has been recognized by General Motors. In 2007, the company received the Best International Supplier award from the car maker, which were later followed by several other acknowledgements.
Autoliv has also been honoured with awards by Jaguar, Land Rover and Mazda. In addition, Audi Hungaria has also recognized Autoliv Kft.'s environmental protection activities.
"Our company is still striving for reaching the best quality as the most important thing is the satisfaction of our customers. The excellent quality achieved through the teamwork of our employees is crucial in achieving our central task to save lives," said Razvan Tanase, the CEO of the Sopronkövesd factory.
