Hungary's government has signed a strategic partnership agreement with yet another definitive player in the global auto industry.

The government's partnership with SMR Hungary aims to solidify the government's ties with the global manufacturer and seeks to involve the company in strengthening the Hungarian economy's performance and competitiveness.

In the last five years, SMR has been awarded with a number of awards and has posted impressive results both on a national economic level and within the global operation of Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG).

SMR Hungary – and its legal predecessor – has been present in Hungary for 20 years, employing a total of 1,600 people at two manufacturing locations in Mosonmagyaróvár and Mosonszolnok.

Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP), SMR's bumpers and frontend division, is currently building a new bumper plant in Kecskemét with a HUF 31 billion investment, and also expanding its wing mirror site in Mosonszolnok. The two projects will create a total of 450 jobs in Hungary.

In addition supporting SMR's expansion in Hungary, the strategic agreement also extends to promoting the company's R&D&I activities, a crucial part of which is its cooperation with local universities.

The company's efforts to support secondary dual education and create training positions will also be supported through the cooperation.

SMR plays an active role in boosting Hungary's economy through integrating numerous local companies into the supplier chains of premium car manufacturers.
