Skoda Octavia dominates February registrations in Hungary

JATO Dynamics’ latest report on February registration volumes states that in February 2014, 5,914 passenger cars and 1,242 sub-3.5-ton LCVs were registered in Hungary.

On the market of passenger cars, registrations were up by 18 percent from February 2014. In the market of LCVs (light commercial vehicles), registrations increased by 31 percent in February compared to the same month last year.

The most popular brand (passenger cars and all commercial vehicles) in February was Ford with 969 registrations, accounting for 13.4 percent of all sales in Hungary.

The best-selling passenger car brand was Skoda with 880 registrations and a market share of 14.9 percent. In second and third place we find Opel (744) and Ford (650), followed by Volkswagen (451) and Suzuki (348) in fourth and fifth.

The highest-selling models in February were the Skoda Octavia (666 units), Ford Focus (244), Opel Astra (221), Suzuki Swift (210), Fiat 500 (171), Volkswagen Golf (170) and Mercedes B-Class (166)

The most popular LCV with a gross weight of less than 3.5 tons was the Fiat Ducato (108 units), followed by the Ford Ranger (106), Ford Transit (100) and the Citroen Jumper (63).

The distribution of the Hungarian market from the aspect of company and private purchases has not changed significantly. The majority – 81 percent – of registrations were corporate purchases, while private sales only accounted for 19 percent of the market.
