Schaeffler expands R&D operations in Szombathely
Schaeffler is building a new plant in Szombathely with a HUF 23.5 billion investment, supported with a HUF 5 billion non-refundable government subsidy and creating 150 jobs in the process.
Schaeffler has decided to carry out its latest investment in Hungary as part of a transition campaign to the new age of automotive manufacturing, bringing R&D activities to the Hungarian site on top of new manufacturing capacities.
Tibor Szigeti (pictured above), CEO of Schaeffler Savaria Kft., said the new plant will be constructed on a 30-hectare area, just 3 kilometres off their existing plant, in a greenfield investment.
15,000 of the lot's 18,000 square metres will comprise the production area. The investment will be launched in February 2020, and is expected to be completed by the end of the same year.
