NI´s CEO László Ábrahám: "Local suppliers need to offer unique solutions"
László Ábrahám, the CEO of Naitonal Instruments´ Hungarian subsidiary, pointed out at a conference which way local suppliers should be headed at.
At this year's Industry Days event a conference entitled "Reindustrializing Hungary" was held, where several top managers of medium and large-sized companies shared their ideas regarding local supplier development.
NI Hungary CEO László Ábrahám pointed out in a presentation that the primary goal of National Instruments (NI) is providing engineers and scientists with instruments that promote faster research and development and market release of products and solutions.
Besides the U.S. the global electronic instruments manufacturer also has a location in Debreden, Hungary, which is NI's largest production site worldwide, and the company has recently opened a new unit in Malaysia. NI boasts a customer base of over 30,000 companies, including car makers such as Toyota, Honda, Ford and Ferrari. The company supplies the latter with remote diagnostics tools used for car racing.
NI manufactures measuring and control tools which are crucial for research and development. Although the company's Hungarian subsidiary is focusing on the automotive industry, NI's local unit also manufactures parts for CERN's particle accelerator facility in Switzerland.
László Ábrahám says Hungarian suppliers should market their know-how and expertise through the production of interesting, complex products in small numbers. This includes the manufacture of products that pose various challenges, rather than the trying to be competitive in the mass production of consumer electronic products. Ábrahám says Hungarian suppliers should approach large OEMs with unique developments.
NI is providing effective support in this field, offering the latest technologies, discounts, marketing activities as well as including its customers in the development process.
