Péter Tarnóy, president of Jedlik Ányos Cluster, said at the ceremony that the initiative's aim is to build a nation-wide fast charging network.

As a result, 150 new fast chargers could be handed over in the following year, he added.

In 5–6 years, 10 percent of new registrations in Hungary will be EVs, while in the mid-2030s this ratio could reach 50 percent, he said.

Currently there are over 50 e-charging stations in Hungary. However, charging up an EV takes several hours at 90 percent of them, and none of them are near any motorways.

An ultrafast charger can charge up to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
