Mercedes Kecskemét appoints new CEO

Effective 1 January 2016, the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Kft. is Christian Wolff. Wolff is replacing Thomas Geier, who has been chief executive at the German car maker´s Kecskemét plant since May 2014. Geier will be transferred to Sindelfingen, where he will be overseeing the premium manufacturer´s new plant, to be producing the Mercedes E-Class starting in 2016.

"Our Kecskemét plant will welcome an experienced professional, who will contribute to carry on with the success story that is Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. I wish the best for Christian Wolff for his new position at a modern and flexible plant, where he will have the opportunity to work with an excellent team," Thomas Geier said this week, commenting the announcement.

Wolff graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Stuttgart. He began his career in 1989 at Daimler-Benz AG under the framework of an international manager recruitment programme.

Following his first position in manufacturing at the car maker's Sindelfingen and Tuscaloosa, U.S., plants, he held various managerial positions, such as director for quality assessment at NedCar Holland and director for logistics at Untertürkheim.

Since January 2011, Wolff has been chief executive of AMG Operations and member of the board of directors at Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
