During the summer months, Suzuki saw a sharp growth in vehicle sales in Hungary. Staying on this growth course could help keep the Japanese marque in a market-leading position throughout the year.

Magyar Suzuki’s sales were first hindered by the Hungarian plant’s transition to hybrid vehicles, while the Covid19 pandemic struck another blow to its sales.

During the first eight months in 2020, 78,649 new cars were registered in Hungary, a 25.4 percent drop compared to the same period in the previous year. In August, a total of 10,924 cars were registered, a 30.1 percent fall from the 15,618 units sold in the same period in 2019, indicating a difficult and prolonged recovery from the crisis.

Suzuki had a 13.44 percent market share in August with 1,468 cars sold, a whopping 67 percent drop from August 2019.

In the whole of 2020 so far, Suzuki have a 9.7 market share in Hungary with 7,631 units sold, leading by only 0.7 percent from Toyota (7,929 units).

Despite earlier difficulties, third quarter sales are showing a sharp increase, which could secure Suzuki's market leading position for the year 2020.
