A year and a half ago, 2,100 people worked at LuK Savaria Kft., and the company's plan was to increase the headcount by 200 people in both 2014 and 2015, so to have 2,500 staffers by the end of this year. We asked Rita Vörös, the company's HR director, to tell us whether the company has been able to keep to its plans.

"At the end of July, we had 2,764 employees and we are expecting to have a staff of 2,800 in December. Our plans are always adjusted to the project at hand, taking into consideration the training period, which is usually carried out at the company's headquarters in Bühl, where our colleagues spend several weeks or even months with preparation," Vörös says.

"We receive a lot of CVs and we call in applicants for the same position in the same day", she explains.

"Usually, it is around 30 to 40 applicants. First, they receive an information sheet about the company, open positions, tasks and requirements in terms of know-how and work experience. This is followed by a factory visit and then the actual selection process.

"The latter comprises several stages. It begins with a test assessing logical thinking, problem solving skills and general knowledge. It is followed by a practical task with instructions and short timeframe to complete it. The last stage is a personal interview with the applicant.

The selection process takes only a day, and by the end of the day the applicants are informed about the decision, and depending on the results of the aptitude test, they will know whether they received the position or not," the HR director says.

This rapid process is important, she continues, because young job seekers do not have weeks or months to wait for feedback and the results of the application.

"We do not drop applicants who fail the selection", she points out. "We give them advice in terms of where there still is room for improvement to make sure they succeed the next time".

Regarding the type of jobs the company is currently offering, the HR director said: "We are looking for process engineers, product developers, QA engineers, middle managers, assemblers, machine cutters, machine operators and maintainers".
