Hungarian car registrations up in January 2015
According to Datahouse, in January 2015, 6,232 new passenger cars and LCVs were registered, up 18.8 percent y/y from 2014. The most popular brands are: Ford (909), Opel (737), Volkswagen (636), Skoda (632) and Suzuki (389).
As we can see, the list of top-selling brands in Hungary hasn't changed since December last year.
Last year, the most popular vehicles were compacts or small family cars (C-segment), accounting for 26.72 percent of all sales in Hungary.

The best-selling car in this segment was the Skoda Octavia with 343 registrations. Compacts were followed by SUVs (J-segment) with a market share of 16.69 percent (best-selling model: Nissan Qashqai with 115 units) and small cars (B-segment) with a 12.42 percent market share (best-selling model: Suzuki Swift with 269 units sold).
The best-selling MPV (M-segment) was the Opel Meriva (78 sales), also sold with an engine made in Hungary, while the most popular large family car (D-segment) was the Ford Mondeo (75 units).

The best-selling mini car (A-segment) was the Fiat 500 (128 units) and the most popular car in the executive segment (E-segment) was the BMW 5-series (25 units). The best-selling sportscar (S-segment) was the VW CC (7 units) and the most popular luxury car (F-segment) was the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (13 units).
The best-selling light truck was the Fiat Ducato (1,677 units). In the segment of LCVs the Dokker Van (640 units) beat the VW Caddy, the best-selling pickup was the Ford Ranger (91 units), while the most popular van was the Ford Tourneo Custom (23 units), according to Datahouse.
HGV sales were dominated by 16-ton+ vehicles. New 3.5ton+ vehicles are almost exclusively bought by international haulage firms (475 units, including 422 trailers). The best-selling brand is DAF with 210 units sold.
