Hungarian car registrations up in February 2015
According to Datahouse, in the first two months of 2015, 13,369 new passenger cars and SUVs were registered, up 19.6 percent from the same month the year before. The most popular brands are: Ford (1,866), Opel (1,585), Volkswagen (1,519), Skoda (1,204) and Suzuki (737). The second most popular model is manufactured in Hungary.
In February, 7,136 vehicles were registered (up 20.3 percent): 5,895 passenger cars (up 18.9 percent) and 1,241 light trucks (up 27.4 percent). Brand sales include 1,266 Ford, 886 Opel, 567 Toyota and 358 Dacia cars.

Mercedes-Benz reached 6th place (483 units, up 180 percent) thanks to a deployment of a new batch of police cars, but Fiat (up 120 percent) and Mitsubishi (up 208 percent) also kicked off the year 2015 with strong results. The losers of the first two months were Volkswagen (down 20 percent), Toyota (down 10 percent), Renault (down 30 percent), Peugeot (down 24 percent) and Citroen (down 45 percent).
Last year, the most popular vehicles were compacts or small family cars (C-segment), accounting for 30.61 percent of all sales in Hungary. The best-selling car in this segment is the Skoda Octavia with 1,009 registrations. Compacts were followed by SUVs (J-segment) with a market share of 15.04 percent (best-selling model: Opel Mokka fitted with a Hungarian-made engine with 266 units) and small cars (B-segment) with a 13.86 percent market share (best-selling model: Suzuki Swift with 479 units sold).

The best-selling MPV (M-segment) was the Hungarian-made Mercedes-Benz B-Class (237 sales), while the most popular large family car (D-segment) was the Ford Mondeo (167 units). The best-selling mini car (A-segment) was the Fiatt 500 (299 units) and the most popular car in the executive segment (E-segment) was the BMW 5-series (50 units).
The best-selling sportscar (S-segment) was the VW CC (17 units) and the most popular luxury car (F-segment) was the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (19 units). The best-selling light truck was the Fiat Ducato (218 units). The best-selling pickup was the Ford Ranger (196 units), while the most popular van was the Ford Tourneo Custom (41 units), according to Datahouse. HGV sales were dominated by 16-ton+ vehicles. New 3.5ton+ vehicles are almost exclusively bought by international haulage firms (937 units in total).
