The University of Debrecen (DE) and Continental Powertrain Hungary Kft. have signed a strategic partnership agreement, as a part of which students will be able to enrol in courses with Continetnal-specific curricula.

“We have capacity to manufacture tools up to 70 tons, while our milling dimensions go up to 6x4x1.5 metres. The nearest milling centre with such capacities can only be found in Győr and Germany, and at large OEMs.

"Our largest pressing machine is a hydraulic press with 2,000 tons of pressing force, but we also have wire-cut and die-sink EDM capacities. What makes Spinto unique is that we are capable of offering services in every tooling segment,” János Pócs, CEO of 100% Hungarian-owned Spinto.

There is a fierce debate between the European Union and Eastern Europe on a new mobility package, which Eastern European member states say heavily restrict driver rest times and the free operation of hauliers. What could be the outcome for Hungarian lorry drivers? We asked one of the experts of this topic, Andor Deli, who works in the EP’s Committee on Transport and Tourism.

“With the exception of Bürkle, those German companies that arrived here made their decisions before BMW’s move to come to Debrecen, as the town had positioned itself well in recent years and become a favourable investment location. Secondly, BMW has been already present in Hungary as an invisible plant, as more than 90 suppliers have been producing for the manufacturer at a total value of €1.4 billion.

"Hungarian BMW-suppliers include Magyarmet, Csaba Metal, Fémalk and Hirscher, and there is a good chance for supplier volume to increase and that they will be joined by others. When BMW decides what it will exactly make in Debrecen, we will also launch our BMW supplier programme. I hope this is something we will see within the end of the year,” Róbert Ésik, president of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, said in an interview.

A military chopper simulator has been opened in Szolnok, where it was announced that they plan to train at least 100 pilots for the Hungarian Defence Forces.
