The Kecskemét Mercedes-Benz plant will invest HUF 400 billion in new production lines for EV production. The company has already launched a hiring campaign for white-collar jobs to support the investment’s personnel needs.

Audi has launched the series production of its Audi Q8 e-tron model at the carmaker's Brussels plant. The flagship of the company’s all-electric range is powered by a drivetrain unit manufactured in Győr, Hungary.

Contrary to reports from earlier, Volkswagen AG could already decide this year where it will build its new CEE battery plant. Hungary is still in contention as a potential location for the investment.

Hydro Extrusion Hungary Kft. is installing a seventh aluminium press at its Székesfehérvár-based unit. The project will create 40 jobs at the plant engaged in manufacturing components for automotive applications.

Hungarian start-up Volteum has been reported to receive a nearly HUF 500 million capital injection from a group of investors. The start-up is developing fleet management software monitoring and providing accurate information about the charge level of EVs.

Mercedes-Benz is said to build its first electric van manufacturing plant in Poland. Once all conditions are met, the investment, eventually to be carried out without the involvement of US-based Rivian, is set to create 2,500 jobs.

It was reported last week that the Volánbusz fleet is scheduled to receive 47 Credobus Econell 18 Next articulated buses, manufactured by Kravex Kft., in the spring of next year.

According to data published by the Future Mobility Alliance, the market share of EVs is growing steadily within the entire Hungarian vehicle fleet. In October this year, it reached 0.8 percent, a significant increase from last year’s share of 0.29 percent.

November marked the fourth consecutive month showing an increase in new car registrations in the European Union. That said, when looking at the whole of the year, new car registrations show a significant decline compared to the same period in 2021.
