Vehicle manufacturer Dunakeszi Járműgyártó has applied for a HUF 1 billion loan after signing an agreement with Spain-based tram manufacturer CAF to begin the assembly of new trams in Hungary.

Last week, Rába Járműipari Holding Nyrt. signed a five-year contract with Germany-based Claas group to supply the agricultural manufacturer's Xerion engine with complete axle units.

According to the latest TÜV Süd report, the best used car on the market is the Kecskemét-made Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The worst new car on the list is the Chevrolet Spark.

Minister of National Economy Mihály Varga handed over the enterprise of the month awards last week. The ministry's "Investor of the Month" award went to Debrecen-based bearing manufacturer FAG Magyarország Ipari Kft.

More than 2,000 tyres, totalling HUF 150 million, were donated in Hankook Tire Magyarország Kft.'s tyre donation programme this year to recipients incuding the BM National Chief Directorate for Disaster Recovery, the Hungarian Ambulance Service and approximately 300 local public benefit organizations.

365 Opel Vivaro vans were purchased under the framework of the "Falugondnok" programme. Opel Hungary handed over the final batch of vehicles to the municipal representatives small Hungarian villages.

Economy

In September, retail trade in Hungary increased by 5.1 percent, it was announced last week by Mihály Varga, Minister of National Economy.

The National Bank of Hungary's locan scheme is set to continue next year with a total allocation of HUF 300 billion.

The output of industrial production was up 7.8 percent in September year-on-year, with seasonal and work-day adjusted indices corresponding to non-adjusted data, reported the Central Statistical Office (KSH) last week.

In August, export volume increased by 6.6 percent, while imports grew by 7 percent.

The forint showed a significant decline against the euro last week falling from 311 on Monday to 315 by the end of the week.
