Two Hungarian automotive suppliers received investment subsidies last week. Tesla supplier AFT Hungary received support from the Hungarian government, while the development projects carried out by towbar manufacturer ACPS Automotive Kft. and its partners are receiving financial support from the European Union.

Chinese supplier Chervon Auto are building a new production plant in Miskolc, where the company will manufacture parts for traditional IC and electric vehicles.

Ford have reported on outstanding Q3 sales on the European market. The manufacturer has retained its leading position in the market of commercial vehicles, and sold more vehicles than expected in Hungary, too.

The head of Daimler said that China will be driver of the company’s development in the next ten years, and the car maker must be prepared for the relocation of its manufacturing sites due to potential commercial conflicts.

It has been rumoured the the supervisory board of Continental’s automotive division is ready to replace current CEO Elmar Degenhart with someone with sufficient determination in executing the changes awaiting the company.

According to the latest statistics on tyre sales in the EU, the novel coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on year-on-year sales volumes, and the industry as a whole continues to be hit by the negative effects of the crisis.

The negative effects on the pandemic are much less severe on the Hungarian used-car market. In the first three quarters of the year, registration transfers barely fell short of last year’s results.

However, the pandemic is causing significant damage to transport companies. A summary on the potential physical effects of providing services below the cost price was published last week by the Association of Hungarian Logistical Service Centres (MLSZKSZ).
