Continental expands on autonomous technologies in Szeged, Busch-Hungária launches new development cycle at Győr foundry, first batch of new Conecto buses delivered to BKV. Continental is expanding its software development activities in Szeged with a unit specializing in driver assistance and autonomous solutions. The new group will operate employing 40 highly-qualified engineers.

Busch-Hungária, the operator of Hungary’s largest iron foundry, has launched a new three-year investment cycle. The investments will increase the iron foundry’s production capacity and efficiency, renew its infrastructure and aim towards a more energy-effective operation.

Construction works on Japanese-owned Nidec’s Serbian EV motor plant have concluded. The unit will be producing motors for electric vehicles with 1,000 employees.

Hungary’s green reg plate fleet is increasing rapidly. By the end of September this year, green vehicles reached registration volumes equalling the volume registered the entire year in 2021.

Last week, the first batch of 135 new Mercedes-Benz Conecto buses ordered earlier by Budapest transport company BKV entered service. Autopro.hu was also there to take a ride on their maiden run.

We are witnessing a trend reversal on the Hungarian used car market. In September, the number of used car ads reached a yearly high, while internet queries dropped to their lowest. This means that parallel to price hike we are seeing a decrease in buyer numbers.

According to a new forecast published by economy research institute S&P Global Mobility, in the future, vehicle manufacturing volumes in Europe could decrease by 1 million units every quarter due to the emerging energy crisis.
