Hungarian automotive industry: week 40 2018 edition

Job requirements are changing, machine operation now requires a deeper know-how in computer systems. Let’s recap what last week brought in Hungary’s automotive sector.

“15 years ago we approached GE-CO to recommend fast, 3-axle machines for aluminium machining. We ended up buying a Japanese machine that had been developed specifically for automotive requirements.

"It was impeccable both in quality and value, and this is how our journey together began. In our new production hall, not only did GE-CO provide machinery but also supplied our entire automation system,” Zsolt Albert, associate at cylinder head manufacturer Qualitativ Production Zrt., told our site.

Ferropatent, a Szekszárd-based company engaged in steel trade and processing, has inaugurated a new production hall built with an investment totalling HUF 2 billion. The investment included HUF 800 million from the company’s own resources. The 4,600sqm facility will feature a new production line capable of processing steel sheets with a thickness between 0.8 and 12 millimetres.

“Job requirements are becoming increasingly complex: machine operation requires a deeper knowledge and experience in computer systems, and soft skills, such as the ability to identify key aspects, problem solving, concentration and stress management, are becoming more and more important.

"One of the key challenges of the present and future is the process of preparing decisions based on the digital analysis of large quantities of data. Know-how in digital technology are becoming key in leadership positions as well. This type of knowledge is essential for risk assessment and preparing decisions,” Tibor Novák, HR director at BPW-Hungária, told our site in an interview.

236 exhibitors from 15 countries will be represented at Automotive Hungary. Hungexpo is expecting at least 10,000 visitors to the event, held between October 17th and 19th. The event will once again house Techtogether Automotive Hungary, the largest competition of Hungarian engineer students.
