Győr-based Audi Hungaria is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The company held a ceremony last week where it presented the new Q3 to the Hungarian public for the first time.

The production of new products is already under way at Hirschler-Glas Kft.’s new, 1,000sqm production plant in Sopron. The investment has created 7 jobs, increasing the total company headcount to 85.

Activities include the production of rear view mirror plates and complete mirror assemblies for OEMs such as MAN, Volvo, Scania and Mercedes.

The Sample Factories project, allowing SMEs to become acquainted with Industry 4.0 solutions and advanced technologies in realistic scenarios and learn about their integration into their own production activities, has finally started. Festo has also joined the programme.

This year, the Videoton Group is carrying out its largest investment programme yet at a total value of HUF 14 billion. The investment will be financed from the company’s own resources, and involves the areas of Industry 4.0, integrated corporate management and digitalisation.

Sinbon, a Taiwanese-owned manufacturer of copper and fibreglass cables and wire harnesses, has inaugurated a new plant in Tatabánya, built with a self-financed, HUF 1.6 billion investment.

Spinto Hungária, a company engaged in the design and manufacturing of large-size tools, has inaugurated a new plant in Miskolc. The automotive tooling plant provides employment for 140 people. The company is now capable of manufacturing tool systems weighing up to 60 tons.

Last week, Continental held the groundbreaking ceremony of its new plant in Debrecen, which is aimed at expanding the company’s automotive electronics production activities.

Rehau will build the most advanced plastic bumper manufacturing unit of its automotive division in Újhartyán with a €150 million project.

MAJOSZ celebrated its 25th anniversary last week with a ceremony held at the welcome centre of Zalazone Automotive Test Track. MAJOSZ president József Nyírő made a promise to keep respecting the interests of suppliers in the next 25 years as well.

In the first quarter of 2018, 46 percent of Hungarian households had at least one car, while the average age of the Hungarian car fleet was 13.9 years, with an average mileage of 17,000 kilometres, a new survey by Robert Bosch Kft. has revealed.
