Early in the week, the most important news came from the aircraft manufacturing industry: Kecskemét-based Magnus Aircraft and Chinese Tianshan Industrial Group signed an agreement on a €30 million investment and to establish a joint venture to produce light aircraft for the Chinese market.

The new joint venture will build and sell on the Chinese market 1,500 Fusion 212 aircrafts, powered by internal-combustion engines, based on a Hungarian licence by 2020.

Holding a ground-breaking ceremony last week, construction works have officially begun at Jaguar’s new plant in Nitra, Slovakia. To be handed over in 2018, the new JLR plant in Nitra will be the fourth car manufacturing plant at our northern neighbours.

Last week, we interviewed Károly Mayer, CEO of Tolna-based Fastron Hungária Kft., who told us that thanks to ongoing development at the company, in 2–3 years they will have 200 new open positions, although they need to find new ways to adapt to the changing conditions on the labour market.

Factory tour at ContiTech Vác - Gallery

Last week, we took a factory tour at ContiTech’s Vác-based production unit, where we gained an insight into the professional world of hose line manufacturing.

Balassagyarmat-based engineering firm Delta-Tech Mérnöki Iroda Kft. has announced to build a new R&D centre in Győr. The company is engaged in the design and manufacture of purpose-built machinery, assembly lines, packaging lines, conveyor systems and machining equipment.

Japan-based manufacturer of automotive electronics systems Mitsuba is set to expand its production and storage capacities at its Salgótarján plant. The investment, totalling €14 million and creating 150 new jobs, will be fully completed by the end of 2017.

It was announced last Friday that the Zalaegerszeg unit of Ganz Holding will receive a HUF 88 million (€0.3 million) non-refundable state aid, part of a total allocation of €50 million to support large businesses in 2016.

The national railway company is in need of 600 employees: MÁV is set to remedy labour shortage with wage boosts. At the Hungarian Railway 2016 professional event, Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó said Hungary’s sustainable and growing competitiveness requires the development of local infrastructure, in which railway plays a crucial part.

Dr. Péter Földesi, rector of Széchenyi István University, gave an interview to our site at the European meeting of traffic engineering professors. Dr. Földesi also spoke about the biggest logistical challenges of the automotive industry.

The first six Hungarian students have graduated within the dual training programme of Siemens. The metalworking certificate will also allow them to find employment in Germany.

Additionally, 18 second-year students have received an Europass mobility certificate.
