Daimler prepares for development in Kecskemét, Hungary develops new military vehicle and Lada announces comeback to Europe. Let´s recap what happened during week 24 in Hungary´s auto industry.

Respirator Vegyivédelmi és Tűzvédelmi Zrt., a company engaged in the design and manufacture of military vehicles, have developed a new family of military vehicles that can be equipped with a ballistic defence system with a HUF 500 million investment.

The new Komondor

A true innovation is currently being developed in Miskolc. The Flike is an electric flying vehicle with and intelligent drivetrain control system. Possible applications include border patrolling, rescuing or casual flight.

A politician from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said last week that Daimler is currently in talks with the Hungarian government regarding a possible expansion in Hungary. No other locations were mentioned apart from Kecskemét, which suggests the car maker is planning to focus on its existing plant in the country.

While we are still waiting for an announcement from Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin restricted the possible locations for a new plant to the U.S. and Great Britain.

Last week, Lada announced their comeback to Hungary. Hungary is one of the first locations for the Russian car maker where sales will be restarted as part of the brand's campaign to reintroduce Lada cars in Europe.

Suppliers

The invitations for the next tendering within the scopes of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme (GINOP), a project aiming to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with a HUF 85 billion fund, has been sent out to prospective competitors.

Phoenix-Mecano completes R&D project in Kecskemét

Swiss machine and electronics parts manufacturer Phoenix-Mecano has carried out a HUF 1.5 billion R&D project in Kecskemét. The parent company established a subsidiary exclusively for the development project under the name Phoenix Mecano Kecskemét Research & Development Kft.

Last week, plastic parts manufacturer Parat handed over a new production plant in Szügy.

Melior Laser Kft., engaged in sheet metal fabrication and sheet metal component manufacturing, have expanded their production area and refurbished their machinery in Biatorbágy, Hungary, with a HUF 315 million investment, announced the company last Monday.

Service providers

Debrecen Airport continues to develop. The foundation stone of a new innovation and incubation centre was laid last week at the facility, which could be the headquarters of Wizz Air in the near future.

The town of Debrecen is planning to replace the city's oldest buses with modern, non-polluting and cheap-to-run CNG vehicles.

Hungary is a leading country in the protection of employees. According to a survey by Deloitte Legal investigating labour law in 31 countries, Hungary's regulations protect employees against unfair dismissals the most.

Education

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Bács-Kiskun County held a workshop in Kecskemét to inspect the state of the dual education system in Hungary.

Economy

In April, Hungary's industrial production increased by 6.3 percent from the previous year according to working-day adjusted and non-adjusted indices.
