Hungarian automotive industry: week 22 2018 edition

Magnus Aircraft is preparing to open its new aircraft plant in the vicinity of Pécs-Pogány Airport. Creating 105 jobs with the investment, the company will manufacture 200 aircrafts annually.

Flex opens new production hall in Zalaegerszeg: the current headcount of 2,000 employees will increase by 100 thanks to a new, 2,600sqm production hall. Previously only a product manufacturer, today the company is engaged in all processes of design, development and production.

Mihály Szabó, head of the Robotics and Production Automation division of ABB Hungary, said the current situation on the labour market is about to become critical in the upcoming period, as manual labour will continue to be in demand even with the lack of willing labourers.

Last week, we paid a visit to PSA’s Slovakian plant, which we then presented with a series of photos.

Every day, 1,395 Citroen C3 cars roll of the production line at the PSA Group’s Trnava plant, where production has been conducted in four shifts since 2017. Last year, the plant manufactured 335,000 passenger cars.

According to János Takács, chairman of the Hungarian Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers, albeit a healthy competition is of course needed, it would be advantageous if company executives realised that cooperation between companies is beneficial for both in terms of quality and efficiency.

Bosch held a press conference to give a recap of its previous year: the company achieved growth in all areas of its Hungarian operation.

“2018 will be yet another promising year for us as we complete a number of ongoing investment and development projects,” Daniel Korioth, head of the Hungarian Bosch group, said at the company’s annual press conference.

LuK has donated a valuable instrument to the Eötvös Lóránd University’s Savaria University Centre: the company has donated a Charpy impact test machine, to be used in the institution’s dual mechanical engineering programme.

The German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry elected four new members into its presidency at its 2018 general meeting. In addition, 19 companies received the Reliable Employer Award.

Tibor Zsinkó, CEO of Mol Petrolkémia Zrt., was elected as the new president of the Hungarian Chemical Industry Association for the next four-year period at the association’s annual general meeting.
