Kravtex-Kühne Group unveils new, lengthened city bus, automotive suppliers set to create jobs in Kecskemét and Eger. Let’s recap what the 12th week this year brought in Hungary’s automotive sector.

The Kravtex-Kühne Group, Hungary’s largest bus manufacturers, have unveiled a new, lengthened city bus. With the Credo Econell 13 CiTY, the Kravtex-Kühne Group were the first to create a low-floor, lightweight bus that offers an uncompromising solution for reducing the costs of traditionally costly urban transport.

Hi-Lex Hungary Kábelrendszer Gyártó Kft., the Hungarian manufacturing site of Japanese Hi-Lex, is developing new-generation window winder systems. The company has received a HUF 155.7m (€0.5m) grant for the HUF 362.4m (€1.16m) investment from Széchenyi 2020 funds in a project called “Supporting Business R&D&I Activities”.

Melinda Topolcsik has been appointed as CEO at Bridgestone Tatabánya. Prior to her appointment at Bridgestone, Ms. Topolcsik held executive positions at the Hungarian subsidiaries of various global companies.

ElringKlinger will set up their latest European manufacturing sites in Kecskemét. The construction of new 10,000-sqm manufacturing unit has already begun, while the production of door modules is set to start in late-2017.

ZF Hungária Kft.’s new investment will allow the Eger-based subsidiary to expand its manufacturing activities with the production of eight-speed automatic transmissions for passenger cars, adding at least 770 new employees to its payroll.

The Hungarian government has decided to allocate a HUF 177m (€0.57m) aid to support the development of Győr-Pér Airport.

The cabinet has also announced to build a new link road between the M1 motorway and Pápa. Thanks to the upcoming railway and road developments, 900 kilometres of railway and 900 kilometres of expressway will be built by 2022.

AAPG, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, held the European final of their petroleum research competition in Prague on May 9-10, 2017. For the first time in its history, the European round of the Imperial Barrel Awards (IBA) has been won by MSc geologist and geophisicist students from ELTE.
