Hungarian automotive industry: week 11 2018 edition

Albeit shorter due to a national holiday, last week was business as usual in Hungary’s automotive industry. In just three working days we reported on numerous investments and a fiscal report from Audi Hungaria.

Suppliers

Ersblöh, a company engaged in the aluminium processing, heat treatment and the injection moulding of plastic parts, was in contention with German and Polish sites as a potential location for a new plant. In the end, the company chose Győr as the location of its latest production hall.

Novus Interiör Hungary Kft. has built a 2,000sqm production hall with an investment valued at more than HUF 500 million. The Swedish company manufactures interior upholstery and cover systems for premium car makers exclusively in Hungary.

Automotive parts supplier Rosenberger Magyarország Kft. is expanding two of its production sites with a HUF 6 billion investment.

Wages

Audi Hungaria registered a revenue of HUF 2,220 billion in 2017, an achievement that prompted management to award all employees at the Győr plant with a bonus.

Investment

A Morocco and Canada-based LED lighting systems manufacturer is planning to build a new plant in Zalaegerszeg.

The Slovakia-based Kia plant held a supplier day last week with the participation of 12 Hungarian companies.

Scienctific work

Hepenix Műszaki Szolgáltató Kft. and the Institute for Computer Science and Control of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA-SZTAKI) are working on a joint project titled Intro 4.0, a programme seeking solutions for promoting the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies.

University PhD student Norbert Geier is researching innovative cutting technologies for automotive and aeronautical applications at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His scientific work could help bring a new era in automotive manufacturing.

Professionals

Hungarian-owned NNG is expanding in the world’s largest automotive market. Last week, we interviewed Valentin Pécsi, the company’s lead engineer responsible for the Pacific area. According to Pécsi, China is characterised by enourmous growth.

On the occasion of the national holiday on March 15th, Daniel Korioth, head of Bosch Hungary, was awarded with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary.

Education

A Győr-based university team will take part in this year’s Formula Student season as an engine supplier. SZEngine will begin the 2018 season with a brand-new powerplant, which was presented in detail by its constructors last week.
