Company CEO Gábor Király said the project has been supported with a HUF 233 million subsidy from European Union funds. The company purchased two new production lines and 17 machine units. Thanks to the investment, the capacity of unique assembly tasks rose by 75 percent, while welding capacity grew by 100 percent, Király added.

As a result of the project, the production capacity of actuator products increased by 30 percent. These devices operate – and save lives – during accidents, the CEO pointed out.

The company also manufactures safety devices in the steering column and headrests. Király said that Hirtenberger's main products are components for intelligent vehicle safety systems, such as gas generators for seat belt tighteners, crash-active headrest systems and bonnet-lifting activators.

According to Király, Hirtenberger Automotive Safety Hungary Bt. was founded in 2001 in Pápa as the Hungarian subsidiary of the Austria-based Hirtenberger group. Over the years, the company's scope of activities has seen a steady expansion.

The CEO reminded that a HUF 1.4 billion investment was completed this spring, creating 50 new jobs at the company, adding three production lines and related equipment and expanding the production area.

The investment was supported with a HUF 346 million EU subsidy, he added. Király said that in 2014, the company's average headcount was 607, its revenue amounted to HUF 11.5 billion and it booked HUF 666 million in profits.
