CEO Gábor Király said the project was supported with a HUF 346 million aid from European Union funds. The company bought three new production lines and new equipment and expanded the production area.

Hirtenberger Automotive Safety Hungary is a manufacturer of automotive safety systems, such as a device which lifts the bonnet when the car hits a pedestrian, reducing the impact and stopping the pedestrian from flying over the car and suffer more severe injuries, CEO Gábor Király said.

The company also manufacturers safety devices for the steering column and headrests.

Király said that Hirtenberger's main products are components for intelligent vehicle safety systems, such as gas generators for seat belt tighteners, crash-active headrest systems and bonnet-lifting activators.

Hirtenberger Automotive Safety Hungary Bt. was established in 2001 in Pápa, Hungary, the CEO added.

In the last ten years, the company has been continuously expanding its scope of activities. In 2005, the company handed over a new production hall to fulfil its new activities, while in 2007, they carried out another development project.

The current investment was launched in autumn 2011, Király added. In 2014, the company had 607 employees on average and registered a turnover of HUF 11.5 billion.
