At this year's Hungarian leg of the Formula Student series, to be held for the fifth time in the country, four Hungarian teams will participate, including Kecskemét College, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Széchenyi István University, who will compete at the event for the first time, and University of Miskolc, who will be present as exhibitors, said FSH event director Tamás Csütörtöki on Tuesday at a press conference held in Budapest.

On August 21 and 22, static events and professional forums will be held, while the more spectacular, dynamic events will take place on August 23 and 24, added Csütörtöki.

Gellért Katona, the team captain of the BME Formula Racing Team, said that in the last few years 450 students have contributed to the team's work. This year, the team will be competing with their own-built electric formula car, developed by 60 students. Katona emphasised that besides the Hungarian event, the team takes part in at least one race abroad as well.

This year Győr-based Széchenyi István University's team will also participate in Formula Student Hungary, entering the event with a car powered by a 1-cylinder internal combustion engine.

The first Formula Student Hungary event, encouraging cooperation between students and automotive players, first held in 2010. The Hungarian race was the fifth among European Formula Student events. The first Formula Student race was held in 1981 in the U.S.
