Debrecen BMW plant to lead sustainable future of manufacturing
BMW’s Debrecen-based plant will be the world’s first car manufacturing plant operating without the use of fossil fuels, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said earlier this week in Munich at BMW’s annual general meeting.
The construction of the Hungarian plant will commence on June 1st, while it is scheduled to launch the pre-production of new-generation BMW models two years later.
The vast majority of electricity required for production will be produced locally, while the rest will be sourced renewable sources in 100 percent, Zipse added.
