Continental invests in Makó-based subsidiary

ContiTech Fluid is an automotive supplier of rubber parts and plastic thermal pipes and fast connectors based in Makó and with a presence also in Vác. Each day, the two manufacturing plants produce 100,000 pre-assembled products, two in every second.

Since its establishment in 1995, the production sites of ContiTech Fluid has seen steady development as well as an increasing headcount.

The Makó and Vác locations have almost 3,000 employees, and their joint production area is over 35,000 square metres.

The company's operating results are positive and their products are highly successful on the global market, which is why the division's management at Continental decided to make further investments in the Hungarian subsidiary.

The total value of an investment project starting this summer amounts to EUR 12 million, supported by a 50 percent state subsidy thanks to a strategic agreement concluded earlier with the Hungarian government. This is Continental's largest investment in the region yet.

The project, aiming to increase production capacity at the Makó site by 30 percent, includes the construction of a 4,000-square-metre production hall complete with a social block, office building, an area for truck parking and a new, 5,000-square-metre logistics hall.

ContiTech is looking to increase production capacity by purchasing additional extrusion lines, furnaces, presses, industrial cleaning machinery, stamping presses, test benches and shrink tunnels. The project is expected to be finished by the end of this year.

"Contintental has plans for us in the long-term so further investments are expected in the coming years – hopefully already in 2016 – at our Vác and Makó locations. The know-how of our Hungarian workforce is world-class, so the Makó region can continue to count on ContiTech Fluid the same way we are counting on our labour force," Mihály Nagy, CEO of ContiTech Fluid Kft said.
