Continental invests HUF 1.2 billion in Veszprém

Continental Automotive Hungary Kft. has expanded its Veszprém-based site with an over HUF 1.2 billion (EUR 4 million) investment, supported with a HUF 321 million (EUR 1.1 million) grant from New Széchenyi Plan funds, the company told MTI.

The company said that the project, entitled Technology Development at Continental Automotive Hungary Kft.'s Veszprém-based Plant was launched in 2012. The company has purchased equipment necessary for the production of wheel and engine sensors.

In addition, the company bought die-casting machines, cutting, bending and placement machines, assembly stations and testing equipment and improved its infrastructure by creating 120 new parking spaces and internal modifications.

The company said in a statement that the project also involved a staff expansion. Continental Automotive Hungary hired 50 operators, which means now nearly 1,700 people work at the plant in Veszprém.

Continental, boasting six plants and a sales centre in Hungary, has over 6,000 employees, and with a registered turnover of EUR 33.3 billion in 2013, it is one of the world's leading automotive suppliers.

As a manufacturer and supplier of brake systems, drivetrain systems, running gear components, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics and tyres, Continental greatly contributes to the improvement of motoring safety and global climate protection.
