The Kecskemét-based production unit will soon manufacture three cars, the B-Class, C-Class and CLA Shooting Brake.

"The Kecskemét site, where production is currently under way in three shifts and the work of which we're completely satisfied with, will be further strengthened by the Shooting Brake variant of the CLA," said Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz Cars, during the presentation of the new S-Class Coupé in Toscana, Italy.

Mercedes-Benz will unveil the new CLA Shooting Brake by the end of the year. Mass production will be launched in the first half of 2015.

Spyshot of the new CLA Shooting Brake

"We are proud that following the CLA, another model, the new CLA Shooting Brake will also be manufactured exclusively at the Kecskemét plant and delivered to our customers worldwide from there. We hope that the CLA Shooting Brake will have a similarly successful reception as the Mercedes-Benz CLA," said factory director Thomas Geier.

The Kecskemét plant is producing the new generation of Mercedes-Benz compacts in a shared production network with the car maker's Rastatt plant. This network is greatly contributing to the efficient production of compact vehicles and allows flexible and optimal control of the two plants' capacities.

The B-Class has been manufactured at the Kecskemét plant since March 2012. The second model, the new 4-door CLA made exclusively in Kecskmét and delivered to customers worldwide from there, has been in production since January 2013.

The new generation of Mercedes-Benz compacts has seen outstanding sales figures this year: from January to May, 173,318 Mercedes-Benz cars were registered worldwide (up 24.5 percent y/y). Mercedes-Benz sold 371,399 compact cars last year than the year before. (up 64 percent from 2012).
