The expansion will allow a more flexible and effective production of new-generation compact models.

"The investment is a clear sign of our commitment to the town of Kecskemét, and establishes the conditions required for the successful and effective production of our new-generation compacts.

"The development demonstrates Mercedes-Benz' long-term plans in Hungary," Christian Wolff, chairman of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft.'s board of directors, said in his announcement.

Wolff added that global demand for the manufacturer's compact models is high and all jobs are secure at the Kecskemét-based operation.
