Chinese car maker BYD may build a new plant in Hungary

According to a report by Financial Times, the Chinese vehicle manufacturer BYD may build a new car plant in Hungary. The company originally intended to build its next European factory in the United Kingdom, however after the country’s exit form the EU, it would be more beneficial to choose a location within the block. BYD, which already manufactures buses in Komárom, may prefer Hungary because of its supporting environment and its developed automotive ecosystem. According to the report France, Germany, Poland and Spain are the four other countries where BYD considers building the new plant. A final decision on the project is expected in this year.
