The 3,000-square-metre production unit's time capsule was laid by Jörg Kientz, the CEO of Switzerland-based parent Cabtec Holding AG and József Seres, the CEO of contractor company Elő-Szer Kft.

Csaba Török, the director of the Szekszárd unit, said at the ceremony that the company's third production hall, increasing the Szekszárd-based plant's area to 8,390 square metres, will be handed over on August 1, while production will begin on September 8.

He added that at the Szekszárd-based plant, producing 11 million cable harnesses and employing 530 people in 2013, 100 new jobs will be created as a result of the project.

The total costs of the construction project amount to EUR 1 million, while another EUR 500 million will be spent on equipment. The project is financed from the company's own resources.

At its Szekszárd-based plant Cabtec Kft. produces automotive cable harnesses for seats, roof windows and heating systems, while the Kecskemét unit manufactures products for the measuring, medical, railway and equipment industries. The two plants employ 1,000 people. Last year, the company booked a net income of over EUR 50 million and a pre-tax profit of EUR 756,000.

Company CEO Zsolt Hőbör told MTI that that Cabtec Kft. is expecting a 10 percent increase in its revenues this year and is striving to contribute to the group's plan to achieve a double digit growth in 2014.
