Autoliv´s Hungarian subsidiary to hire 800 people by 2018

There are certain fields in the automotive industry that operate the best when we don't hear about them. Such is the field of safety belts, airbags and other safety systems: while fatalities always make the news, it is seldom reported how many lives are saved every day by these systems.

According to Sweden-based Autoliv, present in 29 countries with 80 production units, their innovative safety systems save 30,000 lives every year, but this could reach 150,000 in the near future.

"We save lives. We are working on that every day. This is in the centre of Autoliv's philosophy," said Razvan Tanasa, the head of the Sopronkövesd plant. The Romanian expert became CEO of the Hungarian plant earlier this year, and his arrival brought a new wave of developments to the plant, employer of over 1,500.

"By the end of 2015, we will double our existing production area and by the end of 2018, we are planning to expand our staff by hiring 800 people," he added. One of the keys to the success of development is young, experienced Razvan Tanasa, who has already conducted similar development projects in Russia, Estonia and Turkey.

You may be wondering – where will safety systems manufacturer Autoliv find a well-trained workforce in the coming years, when several automotive employers are also hiring. "Our primary aim is to attract people living in this region, by making our company attractive with its corporate culture and dynamism," said Tanasa.

He added: "We are currently recruiting for the fields of production, development, quality assurance and logistics. We are building on both the know-how and creativity of talented young engineers and the expertise of experienced seniors".
