Audi Hungaria: records in engine and vehicle production

Audi Hungaria closed a highly successful year by manufacturing 1,973,734 engines and 135,232 vehicles in the 2014 financial year, which is a threefold increase in vehicle production. By launching the new TT and TT Roadster models, the German premium manufacturer currently manufactures four models at the Győr-based plant.

"We managed to dynamically increase engine and vehicle production, which is a result of the consistent implementation of our company's strategies and a motivated and well-trained workforce," said Audi Hungaria CEO Thomas Faustmann.

"With almost 2 million units produced we set a new record in engine production and we also achieved a threefold increase in vehicle production," the CEO added.

Record in engine production

In the 2014 business year, Audi manufactured 1,476,078 four-cylinder Otto and diesel engines and 2,853 five-cylinder Otto engines. It also produced 452,770 six-cylinder engines, and 42,033 eight-cylinder, ten-cylinder and 12-cylinder power sources in the Győr plant. The total number of engines producer at the facility reached 1,973,734, which is a new record.

Audi Hungária manufactured six different types of Otto engines and four types of diesel engines in 216 variations, with output between 63 kW (86 HP) and 419 kW (570 HP). The plant’s 6,000-strong staff churns out more out 8,800 engines a day. The Győr plant supplies its produce to more than 32 vehicle manufacturing plants of the Volkswagen concern worldwide.

The highlight of last year was the launch of serial production of third-generation Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster models. Both cars are manufactured completely at the Győr plant.

As a result of new investments and rising demand, headcount at Audi’s Győr plant increased to 11,274 from 10,337 last year.
