All models on a single production line – Mercedes builds €1 billion flex plant in Kecskemét
The new production unit in Kecskemét will comprise a pressing shop, a body shop, a surface treatment unit and an assembly unit. The production unit will be capable of manufacturing vehicles with traditional cars as well as autonomous electric vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the construction of its first full-flex plant in Kecskemét. The company is investing a total of €1 billion in the new plant, creating more than 500 jobs as a result.
The full-flex plant is the next step towards smart manufacturing: it uses the company’s new Factory 56 principle, presented back in February, allowing a fully digitalised, sustainable production, which places the human worker in its focus.
